Yorkshire Moors & Rudland Rigg
Its Christmas day, im stuffed like the turkey i just devoured, but earlier made time to get out onto some waste land around Scarborough on the new KTM. It was a closed circuit made by some locals and it allowed me to test the 500. At the risk of stating the obvious ill say that its powerful, my arms definitely stretched.
I've been looking at local maps and taking advice from my brother in law, Carl, who has a LWB Land-Rover Defender and likes to off road on occasion. He told me about Rudland Rigg, one of the longest single lanes in England.
Its a track that traverses the North Yorkshire Moors from south to north for about 15miles. (see OS map) Theres plenty of youtube videos showing it if you desire.

Along with the viewranger website one of the other online resources i like for route ideas is OutdoorGPS.com.
OutdoorGPS allows you download GPX routes that others have uploaded (cycling, walking etc), but viewranger doesn't allow download. So i normally look at both sites along with OS maps, view the local authority sites for TRO's and build my own route in Bascamp. Sometimes using OpenTopo Maps (as i previously mentioned) to upload to the Garmin, otherwise the route is just a line through the wilderness with no detail. The OpenTopo maps even allow some level of route planning like a road map - and they're free!
Roll on boxing day...
