Morocco Day 1 - England to Algeciras

Thursday. it's 2:15 a.m and I can't sleep, what's the point In trying? I'm too excited by the prospect of another trip, so I get out of bed, pack the car with the bags i'd prepared and head towards Luton airport. My flight is at 6:55 a.m. and I've got a 2 hour drive.

15 minutes down the road I remember I forgot to pack my spare fuel pump! Spin around, collect it and set off again. After a smooth journey and a snooze on the plane, its 11:30 a.m CET and im walking in Malaga heading to the tanned bikini clad hotties on the beach.

Jason joins me by midday and we have a leisurely lunch at a beach restaurant. We spend a couple of hours killing time looking around Malaga which is a lovely city, well worth a visit, before deciding to call Rob at fly and ride.

He's got great news for us and is only 150 miles away from Malaga, that means we can collect the bikes today!

A couple of days earlier Rob sent Jason a link showing where to meet him in Malaga, so we head to the address. Unfortunately, that's not where he's parking today, and we find ourselves a one hour walk away in 30 degree heat carrying bags. With the wonders of Uber, 5 minutes later we're heading to the right place in an air-conditioned car.

Meeting Rob at 17:00 at a secure truck parking facility he allows us to get the bikes from the truck. Jason's is right at the back of the trailer near the door and is easy to remove, unfortunately mine is at the very front behind another six or seven bikes most of them weighing over 200 kilos!

Soaked to our skin, sweat running down our backs, we manage to free my KTM. It took over an hour moving a tonne of bike in the blistering heat, finally we hit the road for Algeciras.

all prepped and ready to go...

By 8:30pm we've had our usual debate about the quality of hotel (Jason wins) and we check into the Marriot. Its great to be in an airconditioned room. One beer and several tapas later it's 11pm and I hit the sack, setting the alarm for 6:15am. Destination Morocco....
