UK TET Notts to Dales.
Must admit to being pretty chuffed about this camp on the first night. Being walking distance from Skipton and costing only £10! Our quest to understand how cheaply can you travel was off to a flying start!
Do i ask that question because I'm interested im prolonged sustainable travel, or because I'm a right tight northern monkey? (It's inflation that's the issue, not the moths in my wallet!)
The route was 400 miles, comprising 50% TET and the remainder road.
Couldn't wait to finish work on the Friday afternoon. I'd actually had my bike packed since Tuesday!!😆
It was my first solitary ride for months (Since Africa). I stopped only for these two photos, riding for five hours on and off road. Destination, Niffany farm camp site pictured atop this page
It threatened to rain most of the day, but fortunately, like household cats, we barely got wet and picked our way between clouds. What that meant in reality was that my sweating companion stopped us no fewer than 216 times to don, and then remove, her waterproof layers.
Bolton Castle...
Sarah tackling a particularly spicy down hill section... She did really well today, her mojo for off-road returning, completing the obstacles with the ease and speed of a baby running a marathon 😉
Loads better than the isle of man though! The TET dales routes are great fun, the smiles came as easily as the miles.
Our final destination was a Hostel, not full of, but situated in, Hawes. Our 'room' for the night was their back garden where we pitched the tent. It wasn't quite as cheap as the best offer we'd had at the Bridge Inn, for £6, (yes, £3 each for the night) but it was conviniently situated for the village center.
The third and final day was 160miles return to Nottingham for me and Leeds for the lass.
Passed Ribblehead viaduct and caught a train crossing!
View from a thwaites pub in the peaks, ideal for a spot of.lunch.
All in all a great trip! It's highlighted that camping works, even for the two of us, and opens up travel at a fraction of the cost. (I'm really not a tight arse, just left my wallet in my other trousers)
