Welsh Birthday Tour Day 1

Theres no two ways about it, I'm definitely racking up the millage.  Hopefully I'm aging more like a sleek classic car and less like a mature cheese!! (The jury is out)

As luck would have it this year my birthday has fallen on the annual road bike trip and we're off to Wales on a dodge the COVID outing.

I didn't get off to a great start having to service the bike in the morning, but I'd already done the route planning and was excited to cover some miles on a big bike.  I love the KTM, but CB1300 is smooth like butter and covering distance is easy. When I go around the world 😂 it won't be on a dirt bike.

It was a joy having 1300cc of smooth power between my legs, the bike sped along the tarmac eating miles like a hungry dog devouring a meal. Within just a few minutes I was off the motorways and heading past Hereford and into the Brecon Beacons in glorious sunshine.

The Brecons are beautiful, small winding roads, drastic landscapes and lots of sheep. As my route took me over the top I stopped for photos that somehow the phone didn't save?! FFS technology.

I'd been riding for five and half hours when I reached Tredgar and the Red lion pub that was our accommodation for the night. It's a bit run down or 'rough and ready' in Ken's own words. Jason would not approve, but we had a three bedroom apartment for £65!

Time to catch-up with up old friends.
