"I cant get passed and I'm on a flipping red bike!" cried Sarah.
The comment made me laugh as Id never considered that cows prefer KTMs to Honda's.
Despite Jason and I going first, we'll freely admit that it was nerve wracking passing half ton animals wielding massive horns and tiny brains. ...even if we were on KTMs.
Below.
Jason and Sarah prepping on the streets of Lamego, just before we did several loops of the maze like city looking for Petrol.
It didn't disappoint and we climbed into the hills heading west towards our final destination.
Cool fresh air, a mountain backdrop and a perfectly graded gravel track. Perfect riding conditions. Not for the first time I thought that Barrie would have loved to be here. Instead, he was already at the adventure truck and heading north to our meet point.
Just after this picture of trail riding perfection we stumbled upon the gnarliest decent of the trip.
It was so steep that Jason's bike had a nap and Sarah refused to try. Like a bike valet service I had to ride her bike down before riding mine. Sweating buckets and blowing out of my arse I hiked back up the never ending hill in 30+ degree heat in motorcycle kit. I'm tired just thinking about it.
Jason's flight home was this same evening and I could feel that pre flight anxiety as we were still some distance from the city. At one point the track we were following ended a top a mountain at a building site. There was no way we could pass.
On the outskirts of Porto, Barrie met us in the late afternoon after already driving for 8hrs straight. It was good to see him, he was the person that had made this whole trip possible. I feel enormously grateful, thank you so much Barrie! Thank you to Andy for the loan of your bike too. I've now ridden it more than you have, you're a 🌟
We loaded the bikes onto the adventure truck and wished our friends, Jason and Barrie, safe onward journeys.
