Thrify Fifty - Dieppe to Chatillon

Day 3 – 231 miles: Dieppe → Châtillon-sur-Indre

Accommodation 1: House, 3 Les Chatillonnes (Great) cheap as chips too!

Checking my mirror, everyone seemed affected by the wind, but not to the extent I was. The gusts were so severe they battered me and the tall Ténéré across the carriageway. Jason muttered something like “sod this” and vanished into the distance, while the rest plodded on down the arrow-straight French forever-roads.

Below our lunch stop.

We took some respite from the wind when Paul B ran out of petrol first. Ironically, he was the only one who’d refused to fill up with fuel that morning—apparently, he “didn’t need it.” Ha! He’ll be buying the first round this evening.

Eventually the wind dropped, and the sun joined us. The ride was punctuated by beautiful towns, their grandeur reflecting the decadence of r6he past, displayed on a scale rarely seen today. The owners of these grand buildings must have been the super-rich of the 1700s or thereabouts.

That night we stayed in the small town of Châtillon-sur-Indre, below, in a private house with an acre or more of land, perfect for safely housing the bikes.

Above the bar in Châtillon-sur-Indre, above and below the bikes. Showing the size difference between Kens RnineT and  my adults bike. Paul B taking ome time this evening to fix our first mechanical issue. All his external electrical devices failed earier leavinghim without satnav.

Pizza was bought locally, wine uncorked, and soon the sound of snoring and restless sleep filled the night.

The route today

Im excited by the thought of tomorrow, travelling through the Dordogne region to the moto camp.
