Tour De Yorkshire

The Tour de Yorkshire is passing through the moors and local regions today.  As it does so the council close the roads, enforce parking bans and finally the use a rolling road block as the cyclists blast past.   Reading between the lines this is the message; the roads will empty and people will be watching the lycra not hiking on the lanes.  Perfect!

120 miles and 5 hours later i returned home through adoring crowds lining the streets, i waved as i passed. ...  OK, they weren't for me, but it felt pretty special, located, as i was, just in front of the Tour. :)

Following the route pasted above, led me though some little know rights of way on the moors, one of them passing directly through a sheep field.  The farmer saw me and pointed me in the right direction, nice chap.

These last two photos showing the lonely beauty of the landscape.  Open for miles, i passed four walkers all day.  In the middle of the moors you are pretty remote and any hikers need to be motivated to walk that far.   Between the Tour and the inclement weather, this part of the countryside was mine.
