French Alps - Day 3
Embrun to Sanremo
It's probably my age, but not much gets me excited these days. I will admit though, these bike trips really hit the spot. I was up at 06.30, cloudy from last night's beer, but excited for the day ahead. Bet birthday boy feels the same too.
Above, the start of the wikiloc track near Embrun, heading south.
There's 200miles to cover and the first portion is a downloaded track from wikiloc. Almost every time I use wikiloc, something goes wrong. This time was no different, the track was closed, blocked by trees and boulders, the tunnel at 8000ft was shut and snow barred the path.
Above, the view from. Embrun town.
We doubled back and followed the original path id planned. See the teeny weeny KTM500, dwarfed by the mountains, below.
Every corner held a new captivating view, I think I spent more time stopped staring at the horizons than moving .
It is so breathtakingly beautiful in the Alps. Like a sweet shop for scenery.
We stopped for lunch at a tiny village, with one through road. The main street full of restaurants and the restaurants bikers. Like a hidden oasis for the mid life crisis biker gang. We were amongst friends here and could relax.
It took longer than anticipated to navigate the hairpins and we rolled into town late. We found an apartment for €85, parked the bikes and went out to test our constitution for Jasonsy birthday celebration.
