Trans Northern Trail 2

Just look at this! Somebody actually built it in years gone by, and yet I can't even architect a solution to my front door sticking!

Today was the day we changed plans, dodged the rain clouds and found joy in Rippon. It pays to be flexible.

Above, at least the lanes weren't overgrown!! The little red Berry is Sarah.

We'd planned to follow the TNT north though the lake district, and indeed we did, at least for a couple of hours.

The route meanders west, via this river Crossing. Sarah skillfully filling her boots so that we had water for the day.  Then it continues south to Grange over Sands,  before cutting a path north, dissecting the Lake District.

The only issue we had with the plan, was the weather! The image below shows the rain to the North and clearer sky's to the East.

Like moths flying to the lights, we pointed the wheels wherever the weather teased better fortune.

Success was our own, though a swift baptism in North Yorkshire had us donning the ceremonial rain gear.

At lunch we scanned the surrounding towns for lodgings, thinking better of camping, and found a place in Rippon.

The White Horse became our home, for only £60, including breakfast and safe parking.

Rippon became our garden to explore and enjoy the delights.

It's a beautiful town and as the pictures highlight, it has a magnificent Timmy Taylor's pub, sorry, I mean Cathedral!!

We spent a few hours worshipping at the bar and watching the Lightning storm outside.

Dinner was served at Jaflong, a Bangladeshi restaurant. Five courses for £15 on Sunday. It was packed, the food great, staff were ace.
