Day 4 Slovenia

Slovenian TET Covered today:

Imam Matcha (pronounce 'Immam Match ka') Literally translates to 'I have a cat', its a term used in Slovenia when you have a hangover and refers to having a cat hung around the back of your neck. If its a really bad hangover its 'Imam Tiger'.     This morning waking in the tent, i was definitely feeling Imam Matcha so it was a slow start.

Whilst covering the distance today we've seen, Deer, a Wolf (or maybe a fox ;o) ), a snake, Hares, and something in the woods that scared the poop out of me, perhaps a Boar?  I rode away like i'd stolen the bike.  Life here is slow, rural, close to nature and its most relaxing, i'm really enjoying my time in Slovenia.

We passed through lipica which is has been famous for its horse stud farm since 1580 and is the origin of the Lipizzan horses that you see in Spain. I've honestly never seen so many grey (white) horses in my life.

Another  'unusual to me,' thing, we passed today were mobile Beer Hives.  They're on trailers and are clearly dragged around the country.  Considering the liquor we were supplied with yesterday by the friendly host is made from Honey its understandable why the farmers put the effort in.  For the record, i'm no suggesting all the farmers are ripped on  honey liquor. (*cough* yes i am).

The TET was absolutely fantastic today, almost all of it is off-road winding through forests, over hills, along dangerous goat trails with extreme drops and cliff edges and back to the valleys.  We both agreed we felt like kids in a sweet shop, the bikes handled everything, the only issue was a loose bolt on Jasons belly pan.

.
We stayed in Postojna, a small town with little to do. I had a three course meal that ended with a desert that was so hard i think the buildings are made from it.  I made this comment to the waiters who laughed and probably enjoyed relaying that to the chef, needless to say i didnt order anything else for fear of finding the chefs revenge in it.

Pope John Paul and me having a stare off.

Some odd wall art. The tank is actually firing 'happiness' for children.  What's the message here 'war is fun for all the family?'

Postojna is famous for its caves, there are 13,150 of them, the longest being  over 5KM.  Here's Jason, an avid potholer and claustrophobic, enjoying one.
