Africa Twin Maiden Voyage.
"Can we just keep travelling please Dad?" Asked Lottie, aged 11, on our first bike trip together.
We hadn't planned it, but events unfolded in such a way that a new Africa Twin needed a maiden voyage and Lottie and I were the willing and available crew.
After eight thrilling years I finally sold the trusty old CB1300 and replaced her with this, a 2019 Africa Twin Adventure Sports. Im in the mood for something with longer legs and more space to try two up touring. The Africa Twin is iconic, I've desired one since childhood and it now adorns my garage.
Our maiden voyage started in Nottingham passed through Halifax for a quick family visit and then through the Dales. Our accommodation this evening, (after a few calls made whilst sheltering from the rain) was 'The Crown Hotel, Pateley Bridge. They have covered off street parking for motorcycles, great ale and food. 👍
The delights of Pateley Bridge, killing a little time before Dinner.
The next day we picked our way to Leeds to catch a cross Pennine train to Marsden.
On the final day we picked our way back to Nottingham down the A63 and 614 avoiding all motorways and dual carriageways. You just can't beat pootleing around on a bike, viewing the world at 50mph with a like-minded soul to enjoy it with.
