French TET23 Day2

As we rounded the corner of the dusty track the car came into view. It's rear wheel suspended above the ground, the front in the ditch, the driver sweating and a little panicked. The car was stuck.

Using our carefully nurtured sumo physiques, we soon sorted that out. All those beers and burgers finally counted for something, and years of dedication to food paid out. Our combined body weight righted the car, but probably damaged the suspension.

Stopping at the Seine for a breather.  My nose flowing like the river due to french pollen.

Today was the biggest planned day. 200miles to cover from Dieppe to Le Mans. We left the Bates motel in good spirits, not killed in the night and the bikes not stolen.

The morning was a connection from Dieppe to TET, but proved scenic, the weather hot and the miles came easy. We spoke about places to live and I slowly deteriorated into a sneazing wheezing ball of hayfeaver snot.

The afternoon was miles of open farm land and forestry lanes. With two rain showers to cool the heat.

We landed in Le Mans, where the famous race was in full swing. Plonking ourselves at a bar under the cathedral whilst we hunted for, and debated about a place to stay.

By the end of day I'd resorted to pushing toilet roll up each nostril, like face tampons, to stem the hayfeaver. I was looking good and France was a better country for having me.
