Germany - Black Forest
There are two of us on this trip and we are both in good health. The Dr. and I depending on the other to get to England.
Our routine is the same each day. In the morning the coffee is made, the camp packed meticulously onto the Dr, everything has a place. I eat breakfast, normally gathered from Aldi/Lidl the night before, and check over the Dr.
Look at the Beetle, noticed anything odd about it?
In the evening, camp is made, the Dr's chain is oiled and maintained (it's stretching atm) and then i cook. In and around that I check the photos and make these notes. All my power needs are supplied by the Dr.
All route planning was done in advance, any adjustment is made on the road. Everything I describe, along with the daily travel, takes all the day light available. Bed when the sun sets and up as it rises. A simple existence.
Along the way I stopped for a break at 11, above is my view of the towns folks lives, below is there view of mine 😆
Many stopped to say hello, others just stared, but I know they wanted to talk. No one was worried that this gypsy would pop up his tent.
My destination this evening is Strasbourg, but I have no intention of going into the city to sight see.
Instead I spend the time detouring through the Black Forest, which is where the majority of the images comes from today.
Its beautiful scenery, weather and wonderful winding open roads.
Most of the towns I pass through are really clean and well kept. The houses decorated and maintained to high standards.
..unlike the shower in the camp site this evening. Its a hose pipe with bamboo privacy shield. It doesn't spray, like a shower, it squirts like a hose pipe. There is no door there is no privacy. The camp site owner is a huge french chap, he tells me the water will be lovely at this time of day. He gave me a beer.
I see the other campers look at the shower with the mixed emotions I felt, but it's been a really hot day and there are many cyclists here. We all succumbed in the end.
The wind picked up and this cloud formation spread across the sky. The giant campsite owner tells us to strap the tents down and that this is not normal. As it happens, it stopped as suddenly as it started and just made a nice photo.
