Ken's Half Century Tour Day 2

I have never seen a dirtier toilet, it was just like the scene from trainspotting, even the sink was brown with a thick poop-like coating.  Wish I'd taken a picture.

Before we'd found our way to 'tyres and turds' to patch the inner i  called five garages. Three of them were motorcycle specific, but none would help!

It was grey and it had rained almost all morning, some of us were soaked and cold. We'd stopped for a well deserved cake as reward when we noticed the puncture.

Like industrious worker ants Paul and Paul set to the challenge scurrying around pumping up the tire.  It deflated about 40mins later and we eventually fixed it ourselves outside the garage.

Our destination today is Kilarny via Blarney and we set off again, the weather improving after the puncture repair.

There was little sleep to be had last night as we three men, all sharing a room, waged fart and snore wars on each other. Pillows were thrown, lamps, phones and water knocked over and not much rest was had. I honestly do not know how women put up with their partners.

By the time we got to Blarney we pretty tired and Ken had led three of the team in the wrong direction to the coast. Jason, Damo and I had taken a different route, due to the tyre, and decided to avoid the COVID / Blarney stone and opted to sample the local Kilkenny ale in a fabulous Irish boozer.

.. liquid gold.

Whilst in Blarney I called a few B&Bs and hotels in Killarney, most were pretty spendy (£200+ per room!) Eventually lady luck stepped in and we managed to score a cancellation for the night at the Rossmore B&B for only €50pp, the hosts were fantastically friendly in the way that only Irish people can be. God bless them.

Killarney was a great night out. Particularly loved how these old deers had gone out together for a pint of Guinness and a gossip sat at the Jameson barrel.

We ended the night in a live music bar where people sang and girls twirled to the strumming of a banjo and guitar. It was roudy, loud, hot and boisterous just like you'd imagine a Irish bar. Loved it.
