Ken's Half Century Tour Day 5

Big miles awaited today, the width if the entire country. I wonder how many cake stops we'll fit in.

At the midway point on our coast to coast day we all swapped bikes. I was fortunate in that I jumped on the Tenere just before the only green lane of the entire trip.

I loved the Tenere, it's one of my favourite bikes of the last decade, like a willing Labrador it's was obedient and friendly and I wanted to spend time with it.   The suprise for me was Paul B's TDM 900, like a fat beagle it was capable in its day, but now prefer's all day comfort.  I really didn't enjoy Damo's badly fuelled Scrambler 900.

It was like an angry doberman, agile, but barky, snarly and always tugging on the lead.

The scenery changed as the hours passed, starting in the west with higher hills and lakes, forests in the middle and open farm land as we reached the east.

Rivetting company...

We passed through Kilkenny to sample a pint of kilkenny beer. Whilst there we met a Polish barmaid with an Irish Accent and an army boyfriend.  Jason nicknamed her 'Squaddie Mattress' and she was hilarious. Had us laughing out loud at her stories of Brixton, London. A perfect blend of humour, odd accent and charm. She told us that Kilkenny ale is not made in Kilkenny,  we drank it anyway.

Tonight we stayed in Jimmy McGees in Wexford. The landlord was ripped and built like a 20year old rugby player, but he was in 50's. He told us there was no breakfast, we agreed, and to be honest if he'd said it was Sunday we would have agreed too. The photo above is the view from the side of the pub. We assumed they were patrons that had once disagreed, we were polite.

Paul spinning a yarn...

Ken enjoying Paul's stories...

We ate Asian Fusion food, drank out last Guinness and retired from Ireland.

Great times. Love Ireland.
