Old Age Tour Day 1&2

I'll be 47 years young this weekend and thought Id take advantage of the extended public holiday.

Friday night after work we made our way to Rutland water and stayed at the Boot inn.  The locals were warm and friendly, which is just as well as the room and establishment, including our bedroom, was freezing! It was like camping in a brick tent. Sarah sat in the bar wearing my coat and utilised a blanket to wrap about herself. Mmmm welcoming.

The morning after the night in the igloo we set off across the country to Stonehenge. Seemed fitting considering my advanced years and we didn't have a better plan. I like when things just unfold.

The day was bright, but chilly, and we had to stop for breakfast to defrost prior to reaching out destination. We only managed two green lanes today, but one led to the henge!

If you have a bike you can access the henge directly from the A303. I'm not sure it's strictly permitted, but a small path used by cyclists gets you as close as the paying guests. It doesn't trespass into the actual site, so no English heritage rules broken.

Sarah in her favourite position.

Considering places to stay after our 160miles to the henge (and frequent stops to fill the tiny tank on the CRF300) I rang 15 or more b&b's to find accommodation in Bath.

Amazing city and is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

Below, the smallest pub in Bath.

Bath was a great night out! We visited the oldest pubs, where we drew a crowd amongst the drunken rugby revellers.  Well, I sat 'we', but I mean Sarah, the inebriated rugger buggers taking chase as does a beagle to a fox.

Not sure where his fingers had been, but they clearly invited further nasal exploration.

We drank cocktails in the best bars and ate at a Sri Lankan street food bar called 'the coconut tree' highly recommend!
